In preparation for the 2010 NBA All-Star weekend that will be in the Dallas area Feb. 12-14, we take a look back at some of the top All-Star moments involving the Mavericks and Dallas. 2006 HOUSTON'S TOYOTA CENTER Dirk Nowitzki wins the 3-point shootout
The Mavericks' all-time leader in 3-pointers made and attempted had to beat a star-studded group of long-range flingers.
Gilbert Arenas, Ray Allen, Chauncey Billups, Quentin Richardson and teammate Jason Terry were in the shootout along with Nowitzki, who breezed through the opening round, which was not so kind to Terry.
The shooting guard had 13 points, finishing fourth in the first round. The top three advance, which included Arenas and Allen.
The final round was a Nowitzki showcase. He poured in 18 points to outdistance Arenas by two points and Allen by three.
It was the only time Nowitzki has won the contest in five tries, and he remains the only Maverick who has ever won it.
Nowitzki remains the only 7-footer to win the 3-point contest and one of only a few true forwards to do so, joining Larry Bird and Glen Rice.
