Boston Celtics Getting Inside 2009-11-26

Boston Celtics Getting Inside 2009-11-26Rasheed Wallace is shooting just .363 from the floor heading into a Friday night game with Toronto.

He went 2-for-7 against Philadelphia Wednesday, and he missed all six of his shots Sunday in New York, the first time he'd gone scoreless in the regular season since January 31, 2007 for Detroit at New Jersey (0-for-7 in 21 minutes).

"I ain't worried about it," Wallace said. "I'm in a little slump right now. Every good shooter goes through it. It's just a matter of you can't stop shooting. You've got to keep shooting.

"It's frustrating a little bit, but I still don't let it stop me from my overall game. That's just one facet of the game, shooting the ball. I don't let it stop me from playing defense. I don't let it stop me from talking on D and rebounding. I'll make a shot one of these days."

The fact he's not getting the same amount of touches here is an adjustment.

"That's part of the system here," Wallace said. "Everyone here can shoot. Everyone is a good offensive player. I knew before I came here that my shots were going to decrease because (I'd be) out there playing with those guys.

"You've definitely got to get used to it, but there again it shows the mental toughness of that specific player. If you let it bother you, then it's going to drive you crazy."

Said coach Doc Rivers, "He's not playing great, obviously, but he knows that. If it was a young guy, that would really concern me. A veteran? He'll be in the gym taking a thousand shots.

"I've got to do a better job getting him low to start games, then let him work his way out. Obviously, I want him to play better, and I know he will."

CELTICS 113, 76ERS 110: Paul Pierce played the game's last 30:43 and 42:43 overall to pull the Celts past Philadelphia Wednesday night in Boston. He had a game-high 27 points and kept the C's from an ugly defeat.

"To tell you the truth, I thought this was just Paul Pierce's will on the game," said teammate Kevin Garnett.
