--F Paul Pierce spoke in glowing terms about Rajon Rondo after the third-year point guard went for 22 points, eight rebounds and seven assists to lead the Celts to their win over Golden State. (Rondo had six points, six rebounds and 12 assists against Philadelphia.)
"I think when he's on like (that), we're unbeatable," said Pierce. "With what me, Kevin and Ray bring on a night in and night out basis, Rajon is now starting to develop that consistency as a player. It's something that you search for when you come into the league. He's starting to establish himself as one of the best point guards in the NBA. I wouldn't be surprised if he made the All-Star team this year." "Regardless if Gary Payton likes him or not," added Garnett in a shot at GP, who's been critical of Rondo.
--C Patrick O'Bryant didn't get to play against his former team when the Warriors came through. He's barely played at all this season, with word out early that he needs to work harder.
"He's an interesting guy because he's 7-1 and he's got all the skills you need in basketball," said his ex-coach Don Nelson. "He's got a brain. We were intrigued with him, too, for a while. I still think he'll make it someday. But anyway, it's not my problem."
Said Doc Rivers of O'Bryant, "He's coming along. Him and (assistant coach) Clifford Ray have been together far more than Patrick probably would like to. But it's been great for him, and in the few practices we've had, you can see the improvement. He's just got to keep working."
