--Rasheed Wallace was fined $30,000 by the NBA "for public criticism of the officials" after Friday's win over Toronto. Wallace was called for a technical foul in the game for saying Raptor Hedo Turkoglu had flopped. He later criticized officials and players who take false charges. "Everyone knows they (the officials) try to keep games close and that they keep scouting reports on guys," Wallace was quoted as saying in Sunday's Boston Herald. "Let the Golden Child or the NBA Without Borders Guys do it, and it's fine and dandy."
--Paul Pierce came under fire from the Raptors after he dunked on Chris Bosh and then stared at him a moment as he remained on the floor in pain. Pierce got a technical for his stare.
"I think Paul made a great play; I just don't think when a guy gets hurt that you stand over him and taunt him," said Toronto coach Jay Triano. "That's why I was upset and the rest of the team was upset. I just don't think that's very sportsmanlike. Great play, but I don't think you need to stand there and taunt afterward."
Bosh seemed to throw a shot at his own team later.
"The Celtics had come to midcourt," he said. "And it wasn't even their player who was down."
QUOTE TO NOTE: "You can't get off to bad defensive starts. It doesn't mean that you don't get off to a bad start, but it can't be on the defensive end. Once you give a home team confidence offensively, it's very difficult to turn them off." -- Coach Doc Rivers, lamenting the Celts' poor starts.
