--C Rasheed Wallace isn't going to take his $30,000 fine for criticizing officials sitting down. "I'm definitely taking this one to the appeals board," he said. "I knew it was going to happen, but I don't know why. I didn't talk about no refs. I didn't name no players. Oh, yeah, for sure, I am definitely taking this one to the appeal board. What did I say wrong?" Wallace was hit with the fine for his comments when asked about a technical foul he'd received in the game against the Raptors. He was given a personal foul and argued that Hedo Turkoglu had flopped.
"I got a technical tonight for saying he's a flopper," he said.
Asked about it further that night, Wallace ran afoul of the league when he said, "Everyone knows they (the officials) try to keep games close and that they keep scouting reports on guys. Let the Golden Child or the NBA Without Borders Guys do it, and it's fine and dandy."
--Ray Allen found out just before Sunday's game in Miami that his 2-year-old son had been released from the hospital after being taken there with diabetes-related complications.
He flew with the team the day before.
"It was (a difficult decision)," Allen said. "Even (Saturday) I thought I'd catch a later flight if I had to because I wasn't looking at time. I just watched him and paid attention to him. When I left, he cried. He was hurt because I was about to leave, but I told him I'll be on TV so you get to watch. He wanted to come with me.
"But I left because I knew he was up. I put music on because he wanted to dance. It's one of his favorite things. He still hadn't eaten anything, but at least my wife (Shannon) was there, and she knew he was fine."
