Boston Celtics Notes, Quotes 2009-12-04

Boston Celtics Notes, Quotes 2009-12-04--After watching Rasheed Wallace pick up his NBA-leading eighth technical foul Tuesday, coach Doc Rivers noted it's become a problem. But he doesn't want to remove any of Wallace's enthusiasm, either.

The problem is that players are suspended one game when they get their 16th tech.

"I'm concerned," Rivers said. "There's nothing I'm going to do about it, I can tell you that. I can talk to him until I'm blue, and I'm sure Larry (Brown, his former coach) has done that, as well.

"At this rate, clearly he's going to come to that number and then he's going to get suspended, and we don't want to lose him for games. But listen, his teammates are on him. We talk to him about it. But at the end of the day he's going to have to solve that on his own."

Said Paul Pierce, "You definitely worry about it if it's going to start costing us some games because he's a big part of what we're trying to do. He understands that. Sheed is a smart player. He knows what he's doing. I hope he doesn't get to the limit where he's missing games. We'll talk to him and remind him where he's at. He'll push it to the edge and then slow down."

--Kendrick Perkins is standing out, even on a team with multiple All-Stars.

"He's doing all the little things, a lot of the dirty work that you don't get the credit for," said coach Doc Rivers. "One of the things we've talked about for years is if he can get (the ball) in the paint, they are going to have to foul. If he goes through bodies, he's going to get to the foul line."

Noting the fact Perkins has almost half his last year's free throw total already, Rajon Rondo added, "He's the reason why we're getting in the bonus so early in the game. He's doing the dirty work, getting the offensive rebounds. Perk is my best friend on the team. We have a great relationship and I hope that continues."

QUOTE TO NOTE: "I hope everyone is embarrassed. I (as a fan) wouldn't come back after a game like this. Even Doc Rivers scored 12 points." -- Charlotte's Gerald Wallace, after Boston's recent blowout win.
