--G Gabe Pruitt was suspended for two games by the Celtics after the second-year guard was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol early Thursday morning in Los Angeles.
"I recognize that my behavior was inappropriate and accept the consequences of my action as determined by the Celtics," Pruitt said in a statement. Added Rivers Friday night, "Obviously, we're disappointed as an organization and disappointed in Gabe. But he understands the mistakes he made. He's young and he learned from those mistakes."
--C Mikki Moore cited the lure of joining the defending champions when asked why he turned down more money elsewhere.
"That plus my role on this team and a better opportunity -- and plus that ring," Moore said. "I'm turning 34 this year (Nov. 4), so it doesn't come around too much. 'The driving force is being part of something special with a good group of guys.
"I just feel like I can help this team a lot. I can feed off their energy. It's a team full of good guys, and I just want to be a part of something great.
"I go where I'm wanted. I talked to Doc (Rivers) and I talked to Mr. (Danny) Ainge. They said that they wanted me here, and I played for Boston before, so I know how the fans are and how the atmosphere is there. It was a no-brainer. Once they told me they wanted me there, I already had made my decision."
QUOTE TO NOTE: "One of the things I told Steph (Marbury) on the court is just to be free. Just play." -- Doc Rivers.
