
--The move didn't come with quite the same fanfare as the last time the Celtics got a power forward from the Timberwolves, but the team has inked free agent F Shelden Williams to a free agent contract. Williams is getting a one-year deal for the veteran minimum of $1.3 million.
The Duke product began his career with Atlanta and has been since dealt to Sacramento and Minnesota. He is expected to give the Celtics more inside depth. --Rather than pick up his option, the Celtics chose to waive G Gabe Pruitt after two seasons with the club. It would have cost the team some $900,000 to keep him for this season.
"Gabe wasn't getting a lot of time on the court with us, but we feel he can still be an NBA player," said Celtics general manager Danny Ainge.
