--F Glen "Big Baby" Davis couldn't get the mid-level exception money he was seeking, so he re-signed with the Celtics for two years and $6.3 million total.
"You have to realize, as much as the NBA is full of entertainment, it's a business," Davis said. "You've got to keep that in mind. It's about becoming the best player I can be and developing into the player the Celtics want me to be and I want to be. I grew up so much this summer, in terms of being a professional and being an adult." --While Glen Davis is coming back, Leon Powe is leaving. The backup big man signed with Cleveland for a minimum deal. The Celtics had offered him the same, but Powe evidently was bothered by the way they didn't step up when he suffered a torn ACL. Powe won't be able to play until February at the earliest.
"I thought I did everything I could to prove to them that I am loyal and a hard worker," he said. "And it didn't work out. I put that on their heads."
QUOTE TO NOTE: "I think we're much better. The Lakers and Cleveland are getting better. And we've improved." -- GM Danny Ainge.
